Appointments

We run all our surgeries by an appointment only system. Appointments can be booked by telephoning the surgery the day before or on the day you wish to be seen. A follow-up appointment requested by the GP can be booked up to 1 month in advance.

We try to make sure you see the doctor of your choice but if they are not available we may ask you to see the nurse practitioner.

If you are too ill to come to the surgery and you require a visit at home, please call the surgery before 10am. Home visits take up much more of a doctor’s time than a consultation in the surgery, so if you are mobile please come into the surgery to be seen.

If you need to speak to the doctor over the phone, please ask for a telephone consultation with the GP or nurse practitioner.  You will usually be contacted after morning and afternoon surgery.  It is difficult for the GP to return calls or speak to patients over the phone if they are in the middle of a busy surgery.

Appointments will be offered as follows:-

Emergencies ……………………………………………As soon as possible
Urgent Appointment ……………………………………Within 24 hours
Routine Appointment …………………………………..Within 48 hours

We would normally expect patients to be seen within 15 minutes of their appointment time for non-emergency appointments, if for any reason the waiting time was going to be longer we would inform you at reception.

Drop-In Clinic

From 1st November 2014 the Surgery is introducing a ‘Drop-In’ clinic during Surgery opening hours.

Appointments have been allocated throughout the day to deal with patients who need immediate medical attention. Access to these appointments can be made by either telephoning the surgery or presenting at reception without an appointment.

We have introduced the drop-in clinic to mirror the service received by the Minor Injuries Department on the ground floor of the Hospital. We are hoping that by offering this service we can reduce the number of our patients accessing the Minor Injuries Unit during Surgery hours with problems that could be dealt with by their own GP or Nurse Practitioner.

This will reduce the burden on A&E waiting times and you will also find that your wait to be seen will be much less than that of the Minor Injuries Department. A list of the medical problems that can be treated is shown under the ‘More Pages’ heading at the top of the page.
